Opening the kimono

Opening the kimono’ is business speak for revealing details of a previously secretive process or product.

I don’t know if enough people will get it quickly enough if I try and use it in my routine. Does that make sense? You begin to worry about the quickness of understanding…… and its relation to silence on stage. If you need to explain something for twenty seconds to get a mild laugh from it, you really have to have faith in it, don’t you?

These are the thoughts of a man who is due to go on stage next Saturday with eight minutes of material – three more than previously – and who is questioning his current five minutes! Ho-hum.

And so we beat on…..

So You Think You're Funny

Just heard today that I am going to be performing on Saturday - 5th July - in the first round of So You Think You're Funny.

It is at Maggie May's in the Trongate and it would be great if you could come along.

Quite daunting for the third performance to be in a competition but it needs to be done ;-)

2nd Comedy Performance done

I did an open spot last night at The Ivory, Langside Road – near Battlefield Monument.

I am happy with the performance – think I did ok – but the material and delivery need to be improved. That might sound like everything needs to change, and it probably does, but it needs to be more gradual than that for it to be manageable.

I’ll write more later.

Com-e-dee, Com-e-da

First post-class performance is at The Ivory on Sunday 22nd June, 2008.

Should be good fun. If you fancy coming along, it is free.... which is a good price point.
